President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the ceremony to send off the Uzbekistan national football team to the 2026 FIFA World Cup

The Head of State congratulated fellow citizens gathered at the stadium, football fans, members of the national team, the coaching staff, and representatives of the sports community on this major football celebration.
It was emphasized that today marks another historic date for Uzbek football, as the national team is being sent off to the FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, with great confidence and heartfelt wishes from the entire nation.
The President noted that our football players have brought unforgettable moments of joy to the country and expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the whole nation to the athletes themselves, their parents, teachers, coaches, and all members of the national team.
Special recognition was given to the dedication and loyalty of football fans to the national team. The President thanked fellow citizens who have supported the players both in moments of victory and during difficult times.
The activities of fan clubs were also highlighted. As noted, they not only watch the national team’s matches from the stands, but also proudly fulfill the role of the “twelfth player” with their unique Uzbek-style support during every game. The Head of State expressed confidence that they would continue supporting the team at the World Cup together with thousands of compatriots and fellow citizens living abroad.
The President stressed that football has already become a true companion of every family in the country. Confidence was also expressed that among the children inspired by the achievements of our athletes, future champions will emerge.
It was noted that the increasing attention being paid to sports in New Uzbekistan in recent years, the construction of major sports facilities across all regions, the establishment of professional football academies, and the recently launched National Football Center are creating a strong foundation for young people to achieve even greater success.
The President also highlighted that last year an Olympic Village covering more than 100 hectares and consisting of five major sports complexes was completed in the capital, while a modern 55,000-seat stadium fully meeting FIFA standards is currently being built in New Tashkent. Such modern facilities will contribute to hosting prestigious international competitions and inspire athletes toward even greater victories.
Addressing the members of the national team, the President emphasized that the people are sending them off to the global tournament with blessings and great hopes. It was noted that important matches against the national teams of Portugal, Colombia, and Congo lie ahead, and that the players must take to the field with strong determination and confidence.

At the conclusion of the speech, the National Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan was performed.
