The heads of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan discussed issues of further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation
On December 24, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
At the beginning of the conversation, the head of our state cordially congratulated the leader of Azerbaijan on his birthday, warmly wishing him good health, prosperity and new successes, as well as peace and prosperity to the fraternal Azerbaijani people.
It was noted with deep satisfaction that, thanks to the regular and fruitful dialogue at the highest level, the Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation are developing dynamically in all areas.
So, since the beginning of this year, the trade turnover has grown by 50 percent. The practical implementation of cooperation projects is underway, including in the energy sector, to expand the production of cars, create cotton-textile and sericulture clusters, produce building materials and other products.
A joint investment fund is being created to support promising cooperation projects.
The heads of state stressed the importance of building up the portfolio of direct trade contracts and long-term investment agreements.
It was especially noted that a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan is visiting Baku these days to agree on measures to accelerate the implementation of cooperation projects.
The telephone conversation between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan took place in a traditionally warm, open and friendly atmosphere.
